Surveillance Video Sheds New Light on Agents Who Were Allegedly Drunk

When it comes to criminal charges things aren’t always, as they seem. In fact, many times things can look very bad on the surface for someone who has been arrested and charged with a crime. However, when you dig deeper into the evidence and look at things under a new light, then you realize that things aren’t always as they first appear. That is often the case when it comes to drunk driving charges. Just because someone is charged with a DUI/OWI, that does not make him or her guilty of those charges.

According to preliminary reports, two secret service agents were believed to have been drunk while they reportedly disrupted the scene of an investigation, near the white house recently. Several news stations reported that the two high-ranking agents hit several barricades with their vehicle and that they possibly drove over a questionable looking package because they were operating while intoxicated. Because of those early news reports several members of congress also made comments that painted a bad picture of the two agents. However, there are new reports that now indicate that the first reports might have been exaggerated.

According to a source, there was surveillance video of the scene and it reportedly shows that the two agents did not act nearly as erratic as originally reported. According to the source, who has seen the video, instead of crashing into a barricade, it appears that the agents actually slowed their vehicle down to a crawl and apparently tried to move the traffic barrel with their vehicle on purpose. This is a perfect example of what can happen when first reports are inaccurate. Even though all the news media outlets painted a picture of two drunken secret service agents acting recklessly, it turns out under new light that the situation could have been entirely different.

This case shows why it’s important not to rush to judgment when it comes to criminal charges, including OWI/DUI charges. Just because it might appear that you were drunk and driving under the influence that does not mean you were. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and everyone deserves a fair legal process. If you have been arrested and/or charged with driving under the influence then you need to stand up for your rights. At the Van Den Heuvel Law Office we can help you do that.
