Many people are arrested for driving under the influence in Grand Rapids on daily basis. While their circumstances might be similar, no two cases are exactly the same. However, in every situation involving drunk driving charges, one of the best decisions you can make is to contact an experienced DUI defense attorney.

Authorities have charged a man from Allegan with several offenses, including DUI, after he allegedly led them on a high-speed chase, recently in Gobles. According to officers, the man refused to pull over after they attempted to stop him for ignoring a stop sign. Authorities say the man eventually reached speeds in excess of 70 MPH and forced other vehicles off the road. Officers say the man finally pulled over into the parking lot of a local market. According to police reports, the man allegedly had to be forced from his vehicle because he refused to exit on his own accord. Investigators say they found open cans of beer as well as a bottle of whiskey.

The man reportedly registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.22, which is above the legal limit. Authorities say the man was also driving with a suspended license and that he has already been arrested for drunk driving three times this year. For this latest incident he is facing several new charges, including second-offense for driving with a suspended license, suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and attempting to flee and elude. He could also be charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and with having an open intoxicant in a vehicle.

This man is facing a lot of serious charges and if convicted of all of them he could face some serious penalties, including lengthy prison time. Because this wouldn’t be his first offense his penalties could be even stiffer. While it might be very difficult for this man to avoid being convicted, he could have some of the charges dropped by accepting a plea deal, which could reduce his sentence significantly. When someone in Grand Rapids is facing a DUI, or related charges, several things could happen. Many people in this situation are innocent and should fight the charges. On the other hand, for some people it is best to seek a plea agreement in order to reduce the charges and ease the sentence.

Every situation is different, which is why anyone facing these kinds of charges should speak with an experienced DUI defense attorney right away. Working with an experienced attorney will help you determine the best way to proceed in your particular situation.
